Faculty and StaffLisa MullerAssociate Professor Email: lmuller@utk.edu Personal Website: http://web.utk.edu/~lmuller Lisa Muller is an Assistant Professor of Wildlife Management in the Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries, and a member of The Center for Wildlife Health. Lisa came to the University of Tennessee in July 1999 after teaching at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware for 3 years. Lisa received her B.S. and M.S. at Auburn University, working on mourning doves. Her Ph.D. was in Wildlife Ecology and Management at the University of Georgia. Her dissertation research evaluated fertility control methods and delivery techniques for managing white-tailed deer. Lisa teaches Wildlife Damage Management (WFS 350), Ecology and Management of Mammals (WFS 444), a graduate course in Wildlife Physiology and Nutrition (WFS 531), and contributes to courses in the Wildlife Health curriculum. She enjoys working closely with students. Lisa is also active in several professional organizations. She is a member of The Wildlife Society, the Wildlife Disease Association, American Society of Mammalogists, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the Quality Deer Management Association. She is a certified official measurer for the Boone and Crockett Club. Lisa's research interests include management and ecology of mammals. Lisa's research program involves evaluating deer ecology and damage to agricultural production using global positioning system/geographic information system (GPS/GIS) precision agriculture technology. Her research is aimed at objectively and efficiently determining the potential effects of deer on agriculture and forested ecosystems. Lisa’s research also focuses on the restoration of elk into the Cumberland Plateau Area of Tennessee. This research examines movements, survival, recruitment, and habitat use of elk in their new home. Other research interests: The distribution and abundance of woodrats
and bats in Tennesee. |
